We made the SAT simple!
📘SAT 101
Everything you need to know to prep smart, not just hard.
🧠 General Strategy
Read regularly: Builds natural grammar and reading intuition.
Engage with passages: Treat even boring texts like they’re interesting — it helps focus.
Understand, don’t skim: Only skim if you’ve trained that way and it works for you.
Take breaks when prepping: Your brain focuses better when rested.
Test day basics: Sleep well, eat, and use the bathroom before it starts.
Stay calm: It’s just a test — mental health > performance.
📖 Reading Section
Evidence is everything: Every answer must be directly supported by the text.
Wrong answers add, twist, or assume: The correct one usually rephrases something you just read.
Paired questions? Start with the evidence: Solve backward by finding the right lines first.
Vocabulary-in-context: Plug each choice into the sentence — go with what makes sense in context, not what sounds fancy.
No outside knowledge: Only what’s stated or logically inferred from the passage counts.
✍️ Writing & Language
Master the rules: Subject-verb agreement, punctuation, transitions, modifiers, conciseness.
Use strong resources: Erica Meltzer's grammar list, Khan Academy SAT practice.
Read sentences out loud in your head: If it sounds awkward, it's likely wrong.
Don’t fall for “shorter is always better”: Sometimes more words = more clarity. Go with the clearest and most correct.
Watch for meaning changes: Small edits can completely alter sentence logic.
➗ Math Section
Know your formulas: Don’t rely on the formula sheet. Memorize core formulas: slope, area, volume, triangle rules, exponent laws, etc.
Underline what’s asked: Identify the goal of the question before solving.
Plug in numbers and back-solve: Especially helpful for wordy algebra problems.
Practice with logic: Think like a teacher — could you explain this step to someone else?
Review your mistakes deeply: Don’t just redo — figure out why it went wrong and fix the root issue.
Timed practice is key: Build both accuracy and speed.
